Understanding the Critical Worker Benefit for Albertans
The Critical Worker Benefit will bring much needed relief to eligible workers across the province, providing a one-time payment of $1,200 to eligible critical care workers in recognition of their hard work to provide Albertans with the care and services they need.
The Critical Worker Benefit is available to eligible workers in the public healthcare, social services, and education sectors as well as to those in the private sector who deliver critical basic services to Albertans or who support food and medical supply chains. The list includes:
- Healthcare workers
- Social services workers
- Education workers
- Retail, pharmacy, gas, health, and personal care
- Food manufacturing
- Truck transportation
- Warehousing and storage
- Private health clinics
- Private sector workers in First Nations communities
How do I apply?
Public sector workers need not apply as their employers are working with the Government to arrange payments.
Private sector employers must apply on behalf of their eligible employees. A portal will be available on this page on the 17th of February 2021.
